Hi Kevin, Thanks for the reply.

It looks like that would be adequate once it is all configured. Also I would
prefer to just use non-proprietary solutions. By base is all Debian/Linux and
I would like to stick to that.

Well I was just thinking that it would be nice to have a system start up
script and have that refer to any other configuration files that one could
put in /etc/ or /etc/default or where ever appropriate for initialization.

I guess that would be helpful, however I am not all sure how to simply adopt
your solution. I would be very happy to give it a try.

I have followed some of the threads over at Freeb.org and Freemed.org - it
looks like they are slowly getting there but thinking about porting freeb
from perl to some other language.

It would be great if you could publish it - maybe someone like O'Reilly would
be interested. I know I would buy it - especially if it included a "gentle"
introduction to Mumps.

But then again I need to start with something and why not a mature, open, and
robust product like Vista.

I would be very interested in making it work , mostly to give back and share
my experiences and improve adapting the whole process for the non-VA
environment.

Well I am in the middle of the move, having have to get lots more work done on
operational and infrastructure so I might as well get going now on this as
well.

I'll be leaving this test environment behind (this is not my computer) and
working on my AMD64 laptop (which as far as I can tell won't run G.TM - ?
well maybe with the Debian compatibility layer - I'll have to look into that)
- so it may be a few more days until I can get to all the boxes that I have
shipped up and get a network/ISP connection) The medical offices won't be
ready for another month or so.

Let me know what I can do and how I can help to make this happen.

Also is there another list besides this one i.e. for newbies like myself to
join regarding this topic?

Feel free to call me or I would be happy to call you - I am at 310 546-4320
but will leave on Thursday for AK.

thanks loads,

Ismet
