The more I think about my system, the more I believe
that its PCI slot must be PCI 1.0. The other slots
are ISA.
My USB 2.0 card that is not working, I have discovered
requires a PCI 2.1 slot. I think this is why my DVD
burner is not showing up, or is acting irratically.
The DVD burner can also connect with IEEE 1394
(FireWire). But all the 1394 cards I find on the web
are PCI (and I worry that it is really PCI 2.x). I
can't find an ISA one.
So I wonder if I am stuck with my older motherboard
not being able to support a newer DVD burner.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Kevin
