HEY VA! HAVE YOU HEARD?
Five VA employees were listed among the top 100 leaders who made a difference
in federal information technology during 2004. They were profiled in the
March 21 issue of Federal Computer Week as part of the magazineâs 16th annual
Federal 100 Awards program. They are: Dr. Ruth E. Dayhoff, national project
manager for VISTA Imaging, who spearheaded development of VAâs medical
imaging system; Scott F. Denniston, director of the Office of Small and
Disadvantaged Business Utilization, who developed a database of more than
10,000 veteran-owned business; Dr. Robert M. Kolodner, acting deputy chief
information officer for health, who worked with the Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid Services to field an electronic records system for private
physicians; Craig Luigart, associate deputy assistant secretary for policies,
plans and programs, who led an awareness campaign as chairman of the federal
Section 508 Steering Committee; and Edward Meagher, deputy chief information
officer, who envisioned an IT training program at VA Central Office for
combat wounded troops recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. A panel
of judges was so impressed with Meagherâs creative thinking that they
selected him for the prestigious Eagle award, presented to one government and
one private industry representative from among the 100 honorees.
