Point to Point T1 is a direct line "hardwired" between two locations. It is considered secure because it never passes through a public network. Essentially there is a direct connection through the telecom switching system. No firewall needed on either end of this link.
A separate internet connection is required. However, if internet connection exists at the main office, use just as though you were physically in that office. A proper T1 connection would be to a hub behind the firewall of the main office. It does take some initial investment in a router plus CSU/DSU. Ebay is a good resource for the equipment. We started with T1 because we live outside reach of cable or DSL, and pay something like $550/mo. Full T1 is 1.55 megabits/s. The price could be reduced incrementally by reducing the bandwidth or 750kbps at 1/2 the full T1. I will be glad to share more information if interested.
