Incidentally, two things that may be helpful to you are the client for GNP written in PHP from http://sourceforge.net/projects/sanchez-gtm and MLink at http://sourceforge.net/projects/mlink - it hasn't been updated in a couple of years, but is supposedly functional.

Labor intensive I'm sure, but you wouldn't to be quite as low level as true reverse engineering.
But then again, if the VA already has some first steps with a web access, doesn't that mean that a java tool already exists?
