A recent patch to FileMan has been made to insure that DUZ is legitimate value (i.e. a positive number) for an entry in the New Person file (but it doesn't actually have to exist in the New Person file). I believe the intent was so that programmers in the field would be safeguarded by helping to insure that a legitimate DUZ value for them is in place when the are making changes through FileMan from programmer mode. (DUZ is frequently recorded as part of auditing changes.)
