Regarding printers, I worked hard to get a printer going. I finally did, by writing the print job to a file, then passing it to the lpr service on linux, which forwards it to the printer. I'd be happy to help you with this if you want.
But after I put in all that hard work, I realized that 90% of my printing is done from the windows CPRS client. And from there you can just use windows printers. So that would probably be the better way to go.
