John:
Your enquiry comes at an interesting time. I am currently working on evolution of an earlier version of the document that we had at the June 2004 Community Meeting in Seattle. The current extensions underway are to relate the VistA Code/Documentation to what the potential adopter should do in using a Enterprise View and LIfe Cycle Principles involving Zachman's "Framework". The extensions are intended to support specific comprehensive instruction in probing the practical aspects of Health Informatics and will use VistA as the open implemented foil for all phases for such instruction. Rick has earlier versions which he is using to relate to the WorldVistA responsibilities with respect to VistA Office. Nancy also has various versions and will provide critical review of the wording applicability to the real world. I offer to send you the most recent version with my extensions the overview that links, for VistA, the Zachman framework cells to specific considerations for various VistA configurations. I'd be most interestd in whether you find any of the language useful in practical work with a healthcare enterprise in considering VistA adoption and whether you would share your criticisms with the hardhats as away to help organize the various dialog threads in more focused ways that help readers more quickly get at the issues of interest. Let me know and I will send you separately the two draft ndocuments

The community health center here in Council Bluffs Iowa <<will>>
implement an EHR for our clinic. Grandpa Zimmer was yesterday given
responsibility for the choice of system and its success. My executive
director assures me of funding to do the job right. I hope to see a
reference implementation in our small clinic THIS YEAR.

Many of the members of this list already know of my own many talents and
my TNTC shortcomings. So you know what I mean when I ask for help. And
when I'm told "It's your call, John." you know my choice for an EHR.

So where do I start?
