Actually, I don't think he's the only person to look at doing something like this. My opinion is that it is probably technically feasible, but not necessarily a good idea. Think about it this way: If you have a C program that you want to modify, are you going to edit the executable code or are you going to edit the C code and recompile? Generating C++ from MUMPS is one thing, and generating well written code that a person would actually want (be able to?) maintain is another.
