There was somebody on this list last week
asking the same question. (Mark Goudie) He received advice from somebody here to
try the Fileman Import function. (Holloway) My feeling was that he would have to do it
via an M program, reading in a Host file. He has not informed us of his progress
with Fileman Import. Frankly, if you are just trying to build a
demo with a few patients, my advice is to just use the Register a Patient
option, or Load/Edit Patient Data to get a few patients into the database. If you are trying to import bulk data from
another database, you will most likely have to write a custom program to do
that, and you will most likely have to "manufacture" some required
fields that you don't have, like: Service Connected?, Service Connected
Percentage, Type, Multiple Birth Indicator, Veteran (Y/N), etc. Here are the minimum fields required to
get a patient into the database. IDENTIFIED BY: SEX
(#.02)[R], DATE OF BIRTH (#.03)[R],
SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER (#.09)[R],
STREET ADDRESS 1 (CIVIL) (#.2924), SERVICE CONNECTED? (#.301)[R],
SERVICE CONNECTED PERCENTAGE (#.302), TYPE (#391)[R],
MULTIPLE BIRTH INDICATOR (#994), VETERAN (Y/N)? (#1901)[R] I know, it seems like an odd list of
required identifiers, but it is, what it is. From:
