Kevin;

   MUMPS predated object oriented models. A lot of the things that are part
of the mUMPS model were object-like long before the "official object
oriented model" was ever drawn up. It was the Object Oriented Task Group of
the MUMPS Development Committee that formed up the WorldVistA group. If you
take a look at the X3H7 Object Oriented Check List, you might be surprised
how many of the Object Oriented Models don't fit the Object Oriented Ideals.
MUMPS actually fits most of the characteristics better than many of the OO
implementations.

   The new model we were developing before we started porting VistA to GTM.
Once we get everything stable and well underway, we hope to get back to that
model description. By that time, we will have learned a lot more.

I think a generic description of programming ought to at least adress
object orientation. I know that M doesn't have it yet, but it is a
fundamental concept.
