This is the first step in a process the VA is working to gradually make
its training materials available publicly via the web. Having had the
privilege of attending and experiencing the high quality of the VA's
training program at VeHU this year, this is a definitely a cause for
celebration! Please join me in expressing our deep appreciation to the
VA and its training and education team for making this immeasurably
valuable resource available to the whole VistA community.
cheers,
Joseph

To All VeHU 2005 Attendees and Facility Coordinators:
In order to give our CPRS/Vista Clinical Software users better access to
our training materials we have launched a new site on the internet outside
the VHA firewall. This will allow all our staff to reach our training
materials from their homes without access to the VPN software. This was
something our providers have been requesting, and we are excited that we
have launched the new site.
The new site can be reached at: www.vehu.med.va.gov.
You can reach our web-based training sessions by either using the search
engine to find available courses on a specific topic, or by accessing the
catalogs to find a particular course. We are still in the process of
developing the 2005 sessions and privacy checking the 2004 sessions, so
new sessions are being uploaded daily!
The first session posted from 2005 is session 304H -- We have posted a web
based training course entitled "Clinical Reminders 2.0 Patient and
Location Lists". To view this training, use the Class Catalog 2005 and go
to course 304H or search for clinical reminder courses.
Course Description: Clinical Reminders 2.0 has introduced two entirely
new concepts: patient and location lists. This hands-on presentation steps
through building these lists and shows how they can be used in a reminder
definition or for national extract processing and local reporting needs.
Other courses for clinicians, nurses, pharmacists, HIM staff, clinical
informatics support staff, Vista Imaging Coordinators and My HealtheVet
staff will also be available at this website as we post courses from VeHU
2005.
You must have Flash V7 player installed to view this training. If you do
not have the Flash V7 player on your pc, you will be asked if it is okay
to download the player, simply reply yes. If you do not have
administrative access to your pc, an IT person will need to assist you.
To search for a specific topic in our CPRS Web Based training library go
to: www.vehu.med.va.gov/
This search page searches the web based training we have created from Camp
CPRS and VHA eHealth University beginning in 2003. Over 300 classes are
currently available. The page allows you to search by subject (key word)
and or target audience. For instance, if you are looking for a Templating
Class for Pharmacists, you would type in templates as the key word and
select Pharmacy from the track drop down list and click on search. A
list of classes will be displayed that matches the criteria you entered.
You can then click on the “class information” link to display any
PowerPoint files or reference documents, Q&A from the session if
applicable as well as links to the web based training. Web based training
development is complete for 2003, 2004 courses are in the process of being
loaded on the www as they are checked for patient privacy, and the 2005
VeHU course web based training development is in process and the links to
the web based training will appear as they are completed.
