Just keep in mind the new HLO process that is coming out (HL*1.6*126)
requires port 5001 for live accounts and 5026 for test accounts; and
don't forget port 5000 is for HL7.

Subject: RE: [Hardhats-members] Default port for CPRS GUI client

The folks in VA ten or so years ago who purported to know about these
things I think only new about the "well known" ports and have been
recommending quite a few in the 1024 through 49151 range. Looks like we
(VHA) may have a problem.

But the port for CPRS shouldn't have to be consistent since CPRS should
only allow the user in where the user has previously been registered. I
would say pick a number above 49151 ...

Subject: [Hardhats-members] Default port for CPRS GUI client

Is there a default port for the direct connect CPRS GUI to use when
connecting to VistA on a server? Is this port already assigned by IANA
to another application (see
http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers)?

For example, I have seen 9200 used, but this is assigned to wap-wsp (WAP
connectionless session service). 9201 is assigned to WAP session
service. 9210 is assigned to oma-mlp (OMA Mobile Location Protocol,
whatever that is).

For an OpenVistA VivA that by default will service a direct connect CPRS
GUI client, what is the preferred port for connection requests? [Since
this going into a live CD, the port will be immutable, so I would like
to get it right first time.]

Thanx in advance for any responses.
