Although this is not the way I prefer to set up VistA, $ZRO looks fine.  Since 
GT.M doesn't have a $ZGETDVI() function, and since I don't know what it does, I 
can't really comment on your question.  But GT.M seems to get along fine 
without it!

I think the answer is as Nancy pointed out - this VistA configuration is simply 
intended to be to demonstrate the CPRS GUI, and not for use as a VistA system.

I do have write access (user vista is owner of the entire folder structure, 
including the routines folder).

$ZRO is "/home/vista/OpenVistA/o(/home/vista/OpenVistA/r) /usr/local/gtm", and 
these values do map to the correct locations in my configuration.

Is $ZGETDVI()'s absence a benign or meaningful error in a GT.M environment?
