I'm not familiar with printing for paper record requests, which is
handled by the "Correspondance Office", but Vista Imaging in our VA
hospital only brings up locally produced images. We can get remote data
in text form, but images (I mostly look for radiology) are only
available if the study was done in Albany, not even if done in other
parts of VISN2, let alone other VISN's.

How does the VA handle printing of VistA Imaging images?
What I mean is this. If a request comes in for the patient's records,
I assume they print a batch off all the patient's notes.
My question is, if the note has associated pictures, I don't think it
is printed out then. At least when I have seen VA records come
through there is never any pictures included with notes.
Several of our doctors use paper forms. They are quick and easy etc.
The thought that is now proposed at our site is to scan the form after
completion so that the hand-written notes can be seen at other sites.
But this would require printing out the image of the form along with
the progress notes.
I could further customize CPRS to do this, but I am wondering how it
is handled in its original intention.
Thanks
Kevin
