Hello All,

I'm new to all of this Linux and Vista stuff ... so please be gentle with me! ;-)

I'm trying to use Putty (SSH) and scripting from Windoze box to access FileMan running on GT.M/Linux box. Using command line like "Putty.exe -ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED] -m Test.pty" with "/usr/local/OpenVistA/vista --run /home/dsl/myVista Q^DI" in my Test.pty file, I'm able to start FileMan but I am getting some odd behaviour. FileMan starts and accepts input but the information is (poorly) formatted on my screen as follows:
*********************************

Using username "dsl".
Using keyboard-interactive authentication.
Password:

VA FileMan 22.0

              Your Identity(DUZ) is 0(zero).
                                            Please identify yourself.

Access Code: vista123

*********************************

It seems odd to me that Access Code is actually displayed since this is not normal the FileMan behaviour. This is probably not a good thing. Also, once Access Code is entered, no further prompting occur. The cursor just moves to the beginning of the next line. This is definitely not good. If I start FileMan from my Linux box with the same command line, things work correctly without formatting issues and I am able to navigate correctly within FileMan. Also note, if I start Putty without the -m option then things also work correctly but I then need to manually type in the command to start mumps and fileman, which is what I am trying to avoid.

So ...

1. Is this a problem that others have encountered? Is there an approach or fix to get around this? 2. If I'm not approaching things the right way, is there a "proper" way to access FileMan / Vista remotely using SSH or otherwise? 3. Also, if possible, I'd like to go directly to a particular FileMan screen or menu. E.g. I might want to create a series of Putty scripts (E.g. Location, Provider, User, Procedure, etc) to drive configuration entries. I may even want to include these scripts as individual options under the CPRS tools menu. For now, simple batch files driving each type of task would be fine. Is this possible? Do I need to write a mumps "wrapper" application (or applications) so that I have proper entry points for each task? Any suggestions on how I should approach this problem?

Any help or guidance would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Mike
