OpenVistA VivitA is a Linux live CD that you should boot on a PC with 512MB or more of read/write storage, e.g., a USB flash drive. You can use a hard drive with a Linux file system or a FAT file system in a partition, but not an NTFS file system.
There are four steps to get to the CPRS equivalent of "Hello, world": 1. Plug in the USB flash drive and boot the PC. 2. Select the USB flash drive and "mount" it. 3. Install an initial copy of the database. 4. Connect to it with CPRS. Detailed instructions are at http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=13513133 Be aware that at this stage, all you have is the ability to connect to a blank slate VistA configuration - there are no user ids (so you can't login via CPRS), no doctors, no patients, ... just lots of impatients who can't wait to see a working demo! You can then run VistA with its character mode interface and configure a system that has something meaningful that you can then access via CPRS. -- Bhaskar On Wed, 2005-12-14 at 14:50 -0600, Hardy, Don W. wrote: > I’m attempting to install the OpenVistA Vivita FOIA Gold 20050825 Live > CD.
