Unless there is some reason to do otherwise, I would stop Cache before copying the file. I am sure there is another way to do it. There is some nice, searchable documentation available with the Cache cube.
As for GTM, Bhaskar sent me this; "Yes, you can copy a database file when it is in use, with the mupip backup command."
