Is that meant to imply that, before implementing VistA, we should all obtain a unique number space? I've yet to introduce any new file numbers, and I had intended to use the same scheme, my made-up 4 digit station number (from my phone number) plus 000-999. I just assumed that this would protect my modifications from being stomped by a patch. If I need to get a number assigned, how do I do it? I should do it before making any modifications, and if we all need a unique number space, that might get real complicated when VOE gets in wide use.

It's in whatever your company's or institution's assigned number space is.

I simply want to know what the numbering schema is for non-VA local mods.

BTW, for all the VA sites, their assignments for number range are based on the 3 digit portion of their Station Numbers times 1000. So their number range is nnn000 through nnn999. (DIALOG file entries are in the number range times 10,000.)
