I had understood that the proposed ICD 10-CM, like the current ICD 9-CM, is for diagnoses of visits ("clinical modification"), but that the current ICD 10, like the old ICD 9, are mortality codes. Best I understand, while there is a June 2003 draft of ICD 10-CM, there is no official schedule for when it is expected to be finished. ( http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/about/otheract/icd9/abticd10.htm . Anyone have better info on this?) Or am I missing something?
