I guess what I am reacting to is the difficulty I had a year ago when
I struggled for about 2 weeks to get a DVD burner to work with my RH 9
server. The drive manufacturer did not specifically support Linux,
and I was unable (with lots of help from others) to get it to work.
So I can only imagine that getting Braille readers to work might
involve similar difficulties.
I don't know about all distributions, but SuSE Linux (now owned by
Novell, but even before that) looks for a Braille device as it boots up,
right out of the box. I only know this because as I have watched a load
of machines start, they all threw that line on the screen.
