It is interesting that you are having difficulty, Kevin, as it is the VA that 
did the research confirming that it was safe to split pills for statins as 
you describe. With pill splitters a buck at the Dollar Store, it is a natural 
to suggest this method of saving money. 

I suspect if we could talk with a VA pharmacist, we could find out how they 
get around that problem.

As an aside, Zocor went off patent yesterday (Friday) and with the
details I read here I would imagine the price will drop through the
floor.
