Kernel Security Keys control a variety of functions within the Laboratory package. You may want to review the laboratory documentation on the VA VDL http://www.va.gov/vdl/Clinical.asp?appID=71 Select User Manual http://www.va.gov/vdl/VistA_Lib/Clinical/Laboratory/lab5_2um.pdf
On page 21 of this manual it lists the various LR* security keys and the role/function they perform within the Laboratory package software. The security key LRLAB is required to perform baseline functions within the Laboratory package. LRVERIFY is required to verify/release laboratory results.
