Correct. Also it is possible that you may *reduce* the quality of the track.
When it is decoded there will be audio artefacts in the stream, these are
actually really difficult to re-compress. So there is every change you are
going to increase any artefacts already there.

Lets say a song was encoded at 96 kbps - re-encoding it to 160 kbps won't
improve it as the detail has already been lost during the original encoding
