Go for an AMD system based on a cheapie ATI chipset like the R9200, Athlon64 3000+, 1GB of RAM and all slapped into an Asus A8V board. That would be cheap by Aussie standards here, but I don't know how they're priced up there ... I dare say it would be cheaper there.
