I don't have a great amount of detail on this problem, but here goes:
A guy at work has dial-up on a Win98se system at home. When he starts
IE6, he gets blue screens. He says that he connects to the ISP, but
then the blue screens occur. References are made to krnl386.exe,
there are others, but I don't have that info. Now the strange part,
if he goes into Windows Explorer and finds an internet shortcut, he
can connect and get on the internet. He says that he got an error
message saying that winsock32n.dll was not available.

He says that this started after he installed some updates from Microsoft.

First off, I told him to get Spybot and Adaware and scan. After that
I suggested LSPfix, then next option is to remove networking
components and re-add them.

He's a little computer-savvy, so I directed him to the Microsoft
support site to search.

Has anyone encountered this? Any more ideas?

Thanks....Steve
