Fallen short in customer service, yes. Phone co linemen don't come out & recommend handsets either. Worse CC comes out & loads a ton of their crappy branded software with the scare tactic that your connection just won't work without it. "but I have Linux".. "we don't support that, try outlook."

What part of "for free" did you not read in my post? Comcast paid me all costs on the modem I bought for parents with new service and I got mine for way less than $20 used. After 12 or so months of renting, you could have bought & taken proper precautions thus breaking even rather than sinking. Besides I don't want same crappy ass RCA modem, I want Motorola and I've only lost 1 modem in 7 years & only then to the advance of standards.

Cell phone insurance is worse unless you have a real expensive phone and even then there's a point at which you are paying 2x+ for that phone due to insurance just to pay $50 more & get a refurb. That trap I'll admit I am in given my phone was $250 in 2002, but lethargy has kept me from canceling insurance even though it's really not cost effective anymore.

If you have computer insurance (another lethargy thing with me, need to get it) that covers most anything, you can get a replacement for half off ($100 modem, $50 deductible per claim) AND cover your $4000 PC setup for ~$100/yr

I have been using Comcast since it has been in my area. I've been reading all of the negative responses & I
haven't experienced nothing like everyone else has been going on about. I had Mediaone, RR, Earthlink, AOL,
& probably a couple of others & so far Comcast has been the best. I have worked on some clients systems
that have had DSL (Verizon), AOL (broadband), Cox, & AT&T DSL, & they have had a ton more problems
than any of the Comcast users have. Verizons DSL email sucks, AT&T DSL has good support but some lame
connection speeds, Cox is constantly having issues in our area, & AOL, I don't even have to mention the
problems they come up with, but that's AOHell.

What I have been amazed at is the amount of people that have AOL accounts, have
gotten Comcast cable, & are still logging on to AOL software to get on the
internet. Geesh, talk about dumb!!! Most of them will start using IE or FF after I
explain to them about how it all works. I'm surprised that the Comcast installers
didn't pass this info on to them when they hooked them up. I guess that's one area
where they have fallen short.

Those of you that have bought your own modem have me baffled. I only pay about $3/month to rent
theirs & have had a couple go down from power surges or whatever & they were there the
next day with a brand new one. I even had a client that was having trouble with connection
speed. They came out took one look at is outdated modem he has had for 3 or 4 years & told
him he needed a new one. They connected him up with a new one & he was cruising at 2 or 3
times faster after they left. He as very pleased.

So I will have to side with Comcast on this thread!! But I know nothing of
their company people, other than their service people that have been very
helpful. Maybe my area got all of the good ones!!! ;-))

OK, Cox is good. Comcast, whom Warpmedia has, sucks.

At least here in New Jersey were we both live.

You are just having some bad luck. Trust me, I am in the same Regional Area Network (RAN) as you are. :)

They upgraded the code on their routers, and hopefully it should be okay now. <crosses fingers>
