Or your provider can't figure out how to config it to a higher service level after upgrading their systems, you'll likely be forced to buy 2.0 one to get a supported model or look into other brands. [Comcast issue]

At least that's what's making me spend $48 on a new sb-5100 when a 1.1 compliant 3100 or 4100 should be enough for 4, 6 or 8Mb. So I buy or rent (random models, no choice of brand) and go up, otherwise pay for 4Mb & get 3Mb.
