that's what I did but if I put it in a box where the thumb drive comes up as F ( instead of E ) it does not play.

With linked media files in PowerPoint, first put the movie clip in the same folder as the PPT file, THEN link to it from within PowerPoint, and then just keep the two files together in the same folder, whether on a thumb drive or hard drive or CD...
