Go with the latest, no harm done. No support of features from older chipsets are taken away, its just VIA kindly reminding people to not expect a miracle performance boost from a dinosaur.

Subject: [H] Which VIA 4in 1?
Date: Thu, 26 May 2005 08:33:38 -0700

I am working with a Tyan Tiger 230 that uses a
VIA Apollo Pro 133A chipset
(VT82C694X & VT82C686B)

At the VIA site I see two versions of the 4in 1 drivers
-------------------------------------------------------------------
VIA Hyperion 4in1 drivers are suitable for ANY VIA chipset - but they are particularly recommended for KT4## series, P4X4## series and newer, for example:
K7 chipsets: KT400, KT400A, KT600, KT880, KM400, KN400
K8 chipsets: K8T800, K8T800Pro, K8M800, K8T890, K8T890Pro
P4 chipsets: P4X400, P4X400A, PT800, PT880, PM800, PM880, PT880Pro

Hyperion 4in 1 driver
Version - 4.56v 12 April 2005

VIA Hyperion 4in1 drivers are compatible with any VIA chipset. Performance, however, is optimized for the more recent and the latest chipsets. Therefore some users of slightly older or legacy chipsets report that using the older 4.43 drivers they experience a more responsive system.

4in 1 Driver
Version - 4.43 25 October 2001
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Does anyone have any experience with this.... the board is circa 2001-2... so should I go with the old drivers?

thanks
