I have a Sony Digital Handycam TRV120. We bought Nero last week with the grand idea of dumping all the tapes into the PC and editing and burning to DVD. The digital output on the Sony is an IEEE 4-pin, and the only digital in on the PC (a Dell) is USB 2.0.
Try as I will, I cannot locate a cable that goes from IEEE 4-pin to USB, except for one made in Europe for about $130.. sheesh! Are such things available at a reasonable price? Is there a bottleneck or loss of signal quality going this route or should I just go ahead and install a firewire card in the Dell? The less I have to muck around with the PC the better. thanks..
