Systems are brand new from Dell they dont have an internet connection natively (they do have it incoming, but its disconnected from the network). Did connect to update with all MS updates.. so, not really worried about that. All SP2, current hotfixes, etc. Did run Ad Aware SE 1.06, nothing.. same with Spybot..

QB2005 r6 here is it possible the problem lies in the pc and not qb ? sort of like if the system is loaded with spyware and sp2 does not install properly ? some one is always going to have a problem with patches, no matter what the sw. I had trouble with nero recode and few patches back. fp At 06:21 AM 6/25/2005, Chris Reeves Poked the stick with: Yep, I use QB as well. Issue: They had all been running R5P. QB2005 prompted them that an update was available.. (R6P) and prompted them to install. 1 machine accepted the install just fine. The other two stalled during the application of the patch at 24% (just locking up on a file qbupdate.exe.local). When talking to reps (as well as google/QB forums) turned out they werent alone, quite a few people ran into that. After 3 days, still no great solution (except basically well, you could format those two PCs.. ) ________________________________________ From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [ mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of FORC5 Sent: Saturday, June 25, 2005 12:20 AM To: The Hardware List Subject: Re: [H] GAH! QB2005 5 user license here, no problems. what was the bug specifically ? Peachtree is not as user friendly. fp At 07:59 PM 6/24/2005, Chris Reeves Poked the stick with: What a piece of garbage. So they come out with Version R6P.. I have a major client who is commercial HVAC. They have three people who use the system.. they update to R6P.. and it bombs on the upgrade on 2 of the machines.. (Dells) contact QB. Go online.. apparently, we aren't alone, tons of forums with people with the exact same problem.. no great solution. (uninstall/re-install they suggest; which doesn't work as Quickbooks still leaves junk littered all over in the common file folder, etc.) so they have us hunt down random little BS .dll's and stuff that it forgot. Meanwhile, we're talking on the phone to someone clearly not in the US.. the owner of the company (who could best be said is a bit of a hothead and VERY rigid in his views) gets on the phone and starts screaming "you MFs! Do you know how much this costs me, MF? I've got 19 trucks out there.. we do XYZ a day.. and you can't get your POS to work? " Anyway, come the end of the day, on just principle alone, he announced he's had it with QB, and they will switch. So, assigned to find them something off the bat to switch to, it looks like we'll migrate them to Peachtree 2006. I've got other clients who use it, hopefully that will go better :) -- Tallyho ! ]:8) -- Before advising be yourself, reassess his character. -- Tallyho ! ]:8) -- To whom should I go to for some self-help?
