How well do stand alone DVD players support home burned dual layer DVDs?

Well <http://www.videohelp.com> has 341 players listed that supposedly play DVD+R DL disks.

You pay a huge premium for dual layer media so I am wondering what do people use it for.

I wouldn't know as I've not spent the loot on DL disks even tho my Pioneer 108 can handle them I don't have a stand alone player that can handle them so that makes the issue almost mute for me.

I'm holding out for the stand alone player that can play Mpeg2HD on a DL disk & the only player that I know that does that is the I-O Data AVeL LinkPlayer2 AVLP2/DVDLA, one can get that player at <http://www.digitalconnection.com/products/dvd/avpl2.asp>.
