Actually, you did. You pretty much stated that I thought that people shouldn't be able to protect themselves from piracy. Then you went on an anti-Linux rant. It was pretty weird.
Most of the people complaining about WGA are people who have some pretty weird beefs with MS. A lot of it comes from the Linux crowd.
And, since you're a legitimate OEM and paying for your Windows licences, what sense would it make for me to accuse you of condoning piracy.
What I do have a problem with are people who don't think that a business has a right to protect itself from rampant theft. But hey, they have enough money right? And they sure do a good job of gauging you out of money, right?
That's right. My honest customers should pay more so that MS can protect itself. That's fair.
Yup. By my math Thane it worked out to $0.10 per machine in your shop.
I agree, they are being very reasonable about the upgrade deal. Kudos to them for that. But they should find out where the person got the pirated Windows and then shut that place down.
To get the free licence you need to file a piracy report against the OEM and provide a receipt for your PC. That's their ammo to go after the black market OEM's. From there it all rolls uphill. They WILL find the people distributing pirated XP into the channels.
