wound up being the operator, use filters was checked and was set to ignore *.* :{(  since mostly the files were already backed up with a previous program called rapid backup ( http://www.mlin.net/RapidBackup.shtml)  and is why the ones I put in were being ignored.

must have been tired, not enough sleep :-D
BY the way set it up for my thumb drive ( both ways for sync )

been playing with Karen's replicator and was having trouble with it not
wanting to copy one lousy file, but fwiw unblocking it did not help. may be
a bug that only I can find :{(
