Q. Will the VA-503+ support Windows XP?

I have one of the early 503+ with a K62550. It is running with XP PRO. In fact I hadn't turned it on in a year until a few days ago when I wanted to test a PCI G40 I just picked up. There is nothing about a 503+ that precludes it from working with XP. However, this board, by todays standards, is a problematic POS. The problem is your board, and the VIA chipset. You will have all sorts of IRQ conflicts with this board. It likes certain hardware and just plain won't run with certain hardware.

I have the latest 115Je36 BIOS for the 503. You can run a K62 550 with it like I am doing. If you want me to mail it to you then back channel me.

Take everything out of it except the video card. Then install XP. Once you are up and running try adding in the cards one at a time. Frankly it isn't worth the effort. If you want to run the CPU and RAM pick yourself up a Epox MVP3C for next to nothing on ebay. VIA Apollo 3 chipset, very stable, runs everything.

Sorry for wasting your time and thanks for all the responses.
