Time Based Correction. You can get devices that do better jobs of TBC, but yeah, the AIW really sucks at it. There are software packages out there that do a fair job of doing it in software (way better then ATI's garbage).
I use PowerVCR, but others are out there.. beware a bit, though.. some of the "new" software doesn't do a very good job in comparison to the older software; the problem is, some of the older software (like PVCR) had a good enough TBC that it was easy to edit to allow it to capture copyright tapes.. Then again, easier then all of this is to just get a settop DVD-R and go one to the other. Cost is also cheap (hell, you can get them for less then $125 anymore) -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Winterlight Sent: Friday, August 19, 2005 7:49 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [H] capturing VHS I have a All in Wonder 9600. I am trying to capture my own home made VHS recordings. These are not protected commercial tapes, they are just recordings that I have made over the years. I am using a special splitter box to simultaneously output the playback of the tape to my All in wonder card, as well as my TV. This is exactly how I record the Science channel from my digital cable box, and never have a problem. But trying it from the VCR = newer barely used JVC SVHS, every tape I put in there gives me a flutter on the ATI computer display, during playback and recording. However, the TV screen display is perfect. I can switch over and record from the digital cable box with the press of a button and output is perfect. Anybody know why the ATI card is seeing a flutter in the VHS output?
