A lot of the PCI-X RAID cards will also work in normal 32 bit PCI slots. I have a 3Ware 8506 which is running in a standard PCI slot but wanted a 64bit/66MHz PCI-X slot for it to sing a bit better.....although it only looks like mega-expensive Intel Xeon boards have both slots, judging from those links :(

Now that really blows what I had thought out of the water. I thought that PCI-X was the same as these 1x PCI Express slots that are on just about all the 939 mobos. But after looking at it a bit deeper I realize that they truly are not. So what is the point of having 1x and 4x PCI Express slots on these mobos? And for guys like me who just ordered one along with a 64-bit PCI-X RAID card to do RAID 5, am I screwed? Or will this thing work, just at a really crappy speed? -- Brian ******* This message and any attachment are confidential and may be privileged or otherwise protected from disclosure.
