I ended up buying a soyo dragon plus ver2.0(socket A, serial, eth) for 29.99 off overstock.com - it did not like the elcheapo stick of 512 ddr I first tried but I went back to crucial and all is happy - did have to buy a promise ide/raid controller to accomodate all my drives
