I've had bad luck with Seagate (as recent as 7200.7), so I avoid their desktop drives. Jury is still out on the 7200.8 and 7200.9

OTOH, I've had pretty good luck with both WD and most recently Hitachi drives (HGST 7k250-T7k250, WD1200JB-WD4000YR)...so that's what I buy right now. :)

My loyalty changes quickly.

older drives I agree, the newer drives seem quick, quiet and have a good warranty.
