Two funny (but so very wrong) stories from playing Civ 4 this weekend: I am swearing at the PC because the Jewish Ghandi is pissed at my Americans for being Hindu so he decides to backdoor me with tanks while I am off fighting the Islamic English. Reminded me of a Harry Turtledove book...
Meanwhile, my roommate is cackling gleefully as he finally manages to get the non-proliferation treaty overturned in the UN so he can finally use ICBMs to see if there is a cool animation. Because he was the only nation voting in favor, he spent 3 hours conquering and taking territory to up his percentage of the votes to get it to pass. Of course, when he was looking for a target I scrolled the screen in the direction of Japan... Great, great game. I love how the integrated religion and the huge role it plays in civ development and diplomacy. I also love how they avoiding giving each religion specific advantges or negatives that would have sparked massive debates. And I love the civics model for the same reasons. Oh yeah, and being able to zoom from unit level all the way back to see the entire Earth is awesome. -- Brian
