Those newer compression fittings are worth buying the tool IMHO. Just got one this summer and it rock vs. the old crimp style.

There are concerns about the splitter you use and what dB it does to the various legs (tv vs. Internet) if you change more than just where the cable goes to. Don't use baluns (at all) or more spliters than you need!
