From what I hear & read, she's not the 1st. Lots of counterfeits or
flat out not fit for use generics floating around the cell phone arena.
Anything goes wrong & they can vent violently, lots of stored energy
there, and plenty 'o room to f'up the battery design/manf cutting
corners trying to save money.
Only tried & true Motorola's from reputable vendors for me. Had a belkin
that though it didn't blow up, it sure sucked, died quick & fell apart.
No way of knowing for sure if a cell vendor did something to tweak their
charging or drain in a way that might require a variation in battery
formulation/construction that some OEM replacement doesn't match.

Be careful of cell phone batteries as today CNN reported a woman who's
cell phone blew up causing 3rd degree burns from a non-manufacturers
battery. Ouch!

I have a 7 year old Tripplite 450 VA that has only one battery. I
replaced it once so far and the unit is doing fine. My preference is
APC. I have 3 of the APC 650 VA and 1 APC 1000 VA. I seldom have to
replace a battery. Most of the 650's are over 5 years old. I purchase
my batteries locally from http://www.batterysource.com/locations.htm
I am sure I could purchase my batteries cheaper on the Internet but I
would have to wait and add shipping. I pay for the convenience of
taking my battery in for proper matching at the Battery Source where I
purchase my replacement cell phone batteries, also. Those cell phone
batteries are another story, pricewise, Ouch!! I may do better next
time by purchasing those on the Internet and paying the shipping.
