Beautiful. The only problem is that for 90% of the people on the
Earth, "Intel Inside" still means more to them than actual
performance. AMD has been producing better CPUs for years now and is
still getting its butt kicked by Intel in sales and profits. That is
the sad part.
As much as I like AMD chips from a pure technology standpoint (and I love my
Toledo X2), Intel would still dwarf AMD in sales and profit even if AMD
could sell every single chip the second it was fabbed, with the fab(s)
running at 100% capacity. And as for design, Intel probably has more
engineers than AMD has total workforce.
Intel will be back, of this I am certain. I expect that the race will get
very heated come late 2006 or early 2007.
Good thing I have no real loyality to either. :)
