New install. Although I ended up figuring out what the problem was. Figuring
this is a new install and my first time working with AMD 64 chips, I did not
understand the hardware aspect of DEP (data execution prevention). Seems to
be Windows XP with AMD's new on-chip protections scheme (NX) or something,
atleast that was the explanation on MS' website. Fiddled with those settings
and everything is working fine now.
I've been away too long. My last computer was an AMD XP 2500 bumped to
2.2Ghz and I didn't have to deal with all this. Something new to learn
everyday...

New install or existing?
I saw at least one hit with Google that mentioned a Trojan hiding itself
from windows causing this error.
