My sample sizes for both Maxtor and Seagate are very small, so they really
aren't representative of failure rates overall. However, browsing the SR
forums leaves the impression that the DM9 and DM10 drives, as well as the
7200.8 and 7200.9 drives, _may_ not be as reliable as others.
I've been using Hitachi and WD drives pretty exclusively for a while, and
couldn't be happier with the results. :)

Amazing how individual experience varies so wildly....
For me, the "Crash and Burn" (tm) technology appears to have already been
in the Seagate drives. :)
LOL! Well, that's good. So they should be able to combine both
technologies and crash even faster. :) I haven't used Seagate drives in
some time, so I wasn't aware both companies were working on the same
technology.
My experiences recently have mostly been with Western Digital and Maxtor
drives. I'm seeing about a the same number of drives, with Maxtors
failing at about 20 to 1 rate.
