Wouldn't the wired router protect me from sniffing and ARP poisoning in the wired LAN?

I don't believe you're seeing the whole picture. I believe this is what he's trying to say.

        Open Wireless Router.

Modem---->Wired Router------>Open Wireless Router
                        |
                       V
                Wired LAN I want to protect

How does that differ security-wise from what I posted?

Modem---->Wired Router------>Open Wireless Router
                        |
                       V
                Wired LAN I want to protect

You've added another Open Wireless router, but I don't need that. I just want my current wired LAN plus an open Wireless, and I don't want people on the open Wireless able to access my wireless LAN (via sniffing - which should be impossible due to the switches - or ARP poisoning - which should be impossible due to the routers.)

He was using a wired router and two wireless LANs, but I don't have the same setup, so I was thinking I could skip one router.
