Just saw Malick's new movie "The New World" Incredible. He presents
about as accurate and even-handed a retelling of the founding of
Jamestown and the whole Pocahontas/John Smith story that is taught to
every school child here in America.

The best thing about the movie is that he strips out all the special
effects, CGI, explosions, and normal crap and presents a movie with
incredible cinematography, characters, and soundtrack of simple
natural sounds (water, birds, trees, etc). Made me homesick for the
East Coast :)

Probably best to brush up on your history before you go see it though
as they don't do very much explaining of whats happening.
