Free CODEC pack won't get it. You have to get a MCE Certified DVD decoder & TV Decoder.
Known good: NVDVD (Full) PowerDVD 6.0 (or Higher) ATI DVD Decoder The XP CODEC Pack doesn't have the "full" PDVD6.0 Decoder, it will fail every time because it fails the MCE Certification check. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Brian Weeden Sent: Sunday, March 19, 2006 10:51 AM To: hwg Subject: [H] MCE Problem Trying to get it setup and when I go into the Options to do the audio test I get the following error: "The video decoder has either malfunctioned or is not installed. Please restart Media Center and/or the computer" Video plays just fine outside of the Media Center Shell in either WMP or ZoomPlayer. In addition to the standard codecs that came with MCE I installed the XP Codec Pack from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/XP_Codec_Pack.htm System is a nForce2 mobo, 2600+ Tbird, Geforce4 ti440 video card, 1 GB of ram, and an Envy24 based soundcard. I installed the nVidia 81.98 Forceware drivers from the website. Any ideas what could be causing this? Windows as usual doesn't give any detailed info other than its broken and reboot. -- Brian
