The most noticable to a layman user is the ability to turn off the computer
when clicking shut down. In a standard PC you still have to use the power
button afterwards.
Since like, 1999, there's been zero reason to revert to standard PC from an
initial ACPI install. However if a computer installed as a standard PC even
if ACPI was enabled in the BIOS, it's best to leave it that way. Many VIA
crap from yesteryear fell into this category.
